We:Design
The interdisciplinary research project We:Design deals with the challenges of labour market access for young people, especially with regard to digital inequalities.
On the one hand, job application processes are explored in a participatory way through interviews, short films, digital diaries, and visits to industry partners; on the other hand, young people become co-developers of an open-source, free and low-threshold app for creating job applications in prototyping workshops.
An article about We:Design appeared on the Societal Impact Platform of the Faculty of Social Sciences. ARTICLE
The project is a collaboration between the Computational Empowerment Lab and the Vienna Visual Anthropology Lab (University of Vienna), funded by the AK Wien Digitalisation Fund Work 4.0.
Out of Funding: The Afterlife of Projects
We:Design Co-PI Dr. Suzana Jovicic presents the project at the 2025 Conference of the German Association of Social and Cultural Anthropology (DGSKA) as part of the conference’s exhibition. The installation offers an introspective look behind the scenes, raising questions about imperfection, unexpected detours, and the sustainability of short-term funded projects.
