Dreamscapes: Exploring the Landscapes of Addiction

This science communication project builds on the FWF research project Making Sense of Smartphone Addiction by Suzana Jovicic, which complements quantitative and biomedical research about media-related addiction with a qualitative perspective and foregrounds the voices of patients. It takes insights from interviews conducted in an addiction clinic in Vienna and poses them to the public as a conversation starter and open questions. Outputs include a co-created theatre play, a short film, interactive digital interfaces, a podcast series, a flashmob, school workshops, and publications.
Team
Dreamscapes is led by Suzana Jovicic (project lead) with support of Barbara Göbl and Sanderien Verstappen (co-leads). The Vienna Visual Anthropology Lab supports the realization of the media productions in the project.
Funding
